The chloroplast is another organelle that is used by the cell to convert and make energy. By absorbing energy from the sun and using the energy in addition to water and carbon dioxide in a process called photosynthesis, to make sugar and release oxygen, chloroplasts can convert sunlight into usable chemical energy for the cell. Chloroplasts are only found in photoautotrophs, which are primary producers such as, photosynthetic algae and plant cells. All of the other organisms that are consumers depend on photoautotrophs or on organisms that get their energy from producers. Animal cells do not have or need chloroplasts. The length of a chloroplast is around 3 to 6 micrometers. The two inner and outer membranes with an extremely narrow space
