The previous receiver-to-be was Rosemary. She was serene, lovely and intelligent girl. The giver told Jonas that he loved her, her bright eyes, careful listening and enthusiasm. Week had passed, she suffered with the memories the giver gave her, poverty, loneliness, terror and hunger. The giver commented sadly that one day she came to him and gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek, on this day she didn't came to her family unit.
Choices are what make up our lives. In the book, the Giver says: “It’s the choosing that's important isn’t it”. This happened when Jonas wanted to see all the colours so he could choose for himself, what colour tunic he wanted to wear each day. The book I read was The Giver it is about a boy named Jonas and where he lives there is no conflict, color, hate, love, they got rid of those things to make peace. Jonas and everyone that is the age of twelve are assigned jobs by the chief elder. At the ceremony everybody in Jonas class was assigned their jobs, and Jonas was skipped everyone thought she forgot Jonas, but she didn't Jonas was assigned Receiver of Memory the most important job in their community. This story is told in third person point of view. The story The Giver takes place in I do not know.
“Someone who can’t sacrifice anything, can’t change anything.” (Whisper.sh). Jonas sacrificed everything to change his community, other communities, and the world. Lois Lowry creates a flawed and controlled setting in chapters 1 and 2 of The Giver using specific words and phrases.

Stop, think about this for a moment. You are in a community that cannot see color, has no feelings, no choices to be made on your own, and no diversity between each other. How would you feel? Jonas, a twelve year old boy and the Giver have to live in this community knowing all this. As they live in this futuristic dystopian community they share memories of the past and what is elsewhere.
Imagine living in a world with no freedom, choice, individuality, and color. Would you want to live in a world like this? Most of you would have said no, but a boy named Jonas has no choice, but to adhere to his community’s rules. In the book and the movie, “The Giver”, by Louis Lowery, Jonas finds it difficult to accept his community’s way of life. However, after he becomes the receiver of memory, he challenges the community after discovering what the world used to be like before sameness.
The Giver Compare/Contrast Essay When some people hear the words ‘perfect society’ what do they think of? Take a look at our society, then take a look at Jonas’s society, between our two societies there are some comparisons and a vast amount of differences. For instance, the rules are different, as well as their family units and their individuality. While our society is more on the modern side, Jonas’s society is plainer. When it comes to the rules in our society, we don’t normally think of rules that are very extreme.
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary free will is "the ability to choose how to act. " The freedom to choose what you want to do with your life, and the ability to have control over your own actions. Without free will you limit people's abilities to grow and to evolve, you limit innovation and development, but most of all you limit people's opportunity to have happiness and a purpose. In The Giver people in the communities were told what to do in every step of their lives, they were not only deprived of free will, but the emotions, thoughts, and actions that make life so wonderful.
Only people with power in their job can have more access to more knowledge than others. In our society we have access to libraries, which provide knowledge. The Giver and are modern society have many things in common, but also have huge differences. When it comes to families, rules,and how leadership works many things can’t be compared. The illusion of Jonas’ society being perfect is far from the truth.
Options and choices are the best part of life. Choosing and making decisions is a part of becoming more independent and having freedom. But what if there was a restriction on family, the job one could have, or the memories one could make. In The Giver, Jonas’s society has no decisions, no choosing, or picking. Is this the idea of a Utopia where people take all the responsibility of making all of life's hard decisions?
When Jonas experiences both painful and pleasurable memories, he becomes willing to accept pain and suffering in order to experience the fullness of life. He decides to leave, that he will no longer live within the constraints of his community, and that security is not worth the absence of freedom. The line between public safety and personal freedoms should be drawn where extreme harm can occur, and most freedoms are more essential than an orderly society. These freedoms include color and diversity, personal freedoms such as dress code, speech, and religion, and love and marriage.
The holiday season is a special time for many people. When one thinks of the holidays they think of times that they hold most dear in memories. Two of the major holidays in the United States of America is Thanksgiving and Christmas. These holidays are somewhat similar, but also have many differences. Some of the differences with these two holidays are the decorations, traditions, the reason for celebration, and history.
Summary In the first day at school as Twelve, Jonas friends shared their training stories except him in his depth he would like to, but how he would share if they were never understood. How would he describe a hill, snow or sunshine? so, he deiced to listen to them only. Moreover, Jonas fingered out what colors mean and he wonders why they didn’t have them
