It was now that Jonas was informed of his duty as receiver of memories. Jonas was forced to leave his place of comfort and leave the safe world that he had been in up until this point.
He also commented that people had said that she asked for release, the memories were transmitted to the citizens, leaving them with pain and anger, also the giver was left with a little sadness and anger too. Jonas thought that he would never disappoint the giver, also he would never ask for release, but still he felt lonely
Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo. All of a sudden, Jonas spotted a tangled mass of yellow. Then, more colors appeared, blue and red, then green. Her green eyes were visible as Jonas sat in the bitterly cold snow with Gabriel nuzzled in his chest.
The memories that Jonas is exposed to cause him to wish to escape his “perfect” community that has been kept the same for years. Once Jonas experiences these true emotions, he realizes that the feelings expressed in his society are nowhere near the level of depth that true feelings possess, thus reinforcing the theme. “But now Jonas had experienced real sadness... Imagine living in a world with no freedom, choice, individuality, and color. Would you want to live in a world like this? Most of you would have said no, but a boy named Jonas has no choice, but to adhere to his community’s rules. In the book and the movie, “The Giver”, by Louis Lowery, Jonas finds it difficult to accept his community’s way of life. However, after he becomes the receiver of memory, he challenges the community after discovering what the world used to be like before sameness.
Jonas knows things and he can't tell anyone about them. Jonas has to deal with the pain that comes from the memories. According to the novel “The Giver”on page 104 it says, “Limping, Jonas walked home, pushing his bicycle , the evening. The sunburn pain had been so small, in comparison, and had not stayed with him. But this ache lingered.
The Giver Literature essay I have read the dystopian novel “The Giver” (1993) which is written by the beloved American author Lois Lowry. “The Giver” is about a twelve-year-old boy with the name Jonas. Jonas lives a similar life as all the others in the community, until the Ceremony of Twelve when he got assigned the task as the Receiver of Memory. As The Receiver of Memory it is Jonas’ task to keep all the memories of the past so not everyone needs to keep this burden. Although Jonas received beautiful memories with a lot of colors and happiness he also felt grief, pain and anger.
In the book, everyone has the same attribute’s but one twelve year old boy named Jonas. Throughout the novel,Jonas has suffer and has been misunderstood. Jonas opened his eyes to the reality of the community. This causes tears, anger, lonely’s,confused, unaware and misunderstanding. “He killed it my father killed it”,Jonas said to himself” (Lowry 188).
The Giver: Chapters 1-5 A. I think that when someone is released from the community they are sent out of the community to live somewhere else.
Which meant his time with Fiona and Asher were going to be shorter.. Another reason that Jonas has the punishment of being the receiver of memory “2. Go immediately to your dwelling at the conclusion of Training Hours each day. One rule Jonas had was that he was not to do anything except immediately go straight home to his family unit. “5.
