Chris Christie has recently announced his run as a Republican candidate, for the 2016 Presidential election. His stance on certain issues show that he must not win this election. Some of the issues that are being discussed are; public funding for family planning clinics, NSA domestic surveillance, and gay marriage ruling in the Supreme Court. His opinion on these certain issues are just a foreshadowing for the future if he is President. Public funding for family planning clinics is very important for most women. Chris Christie’s belief is family planning must not be funded by the state and abortion be illegal. When Christie was governor of New Jersey, he had ran a very pro-life agenda, vetoing the Planned Parenthood out of budget several times. These beliefs are coming from a man, who has not experienced the hardships of pregnancy, who has no idea what it is like to be raped and forced to conceive an unwanted baby, and who has no idea how hard a pregnancy is financially on a woman. Recently a case at the Supreme Court level legalized gay marriage across the United States. This court case has received a lot of backlash from many people, people like Chris Christie. “Chris Christie said on Sunday Supreme Court justices of his liking would not have legalized same-sex marriage and would have struck down a key provision of a national health care law.” (Fredericks). His point is, people that thought the same way as him would not have legalized same sex marriage. If Christie became president what else would he do to affect the LGBT community? What other issues will he disagree with? He could hurt the LGBT community, which makes up a sizeable amount of the population of the United States.
