Introduction:

Societies are faced with many crises and we as Christians need to respond to it. This paper will include a crisis that is currently affecting young teens and adults. To answer some questions being asked and find a response to the crisis, Osmer’s approach will be used. I interviewed a local leader from Atlantis to find out what her response was and why she acted on the problem. This paper will explain the crisis and give a few responses from a Christian approach. It will also include scriptures and experience from others and the Bible.

If we want to be faithful and live like Christians we need to open up conversations about what is happening. We can’t remove ourselves from problems, we need to address it (Mee, 2016). Theologians need to connect people to hope of the coming Kingdom of God. We as the body of Christ need to bring change and inspire change through our actions and words (Mee, 2016).

We need to become aware of drug problems in our communities. Christians may be tempted to avoid the problems that is facing the communities today. Educating children and adults about drug abuse should be part of a church’s work. As the body of Christ we need to set examples for these addicts. In Matthew 5: 12-16 Jesus says that we as His followers are the light of the world, the salt to the earth and leaven in society (Beasley, 2011, 1-2).

By revealing the problem and confronting is when you suspect an addiction and by doing it in a wise loving way rather than avoid it because of fear. We need to directly address the issue and those who are a slave to sin. When we suspect someone we could call together relatives, friends and church leaders who love this person and wants the best for the person to help plan for the change that needs to take place. She approach them with love and understanding. She talks to them about who God is and what He created them to be. In Genesis 1:26 God says let man rule over the earth and this is exactly what Michelle tells them, but then she also says that if they use drugs which is also seen as plants and substances then it will rule over them which is not God’s plan in the first place. Before some of them even use any drugs they come and talk to her and she then talks to them in a way that makes them think of who they are and where God fits into their lives.
