Christine de Pisan, born at around 1363-1364, at Venice, Italy was a brilliant, strong female figure known for her writings during the 14th century. She was a well-educated widowed mother of three who found her passion and new love for writing. It began when she moved to France with her father, an astrologer who worked with the king of France, Charles V. She had to find ways to support her three children, her mother, and her niece so she took up on writing. Her first book, The Treasure of the City of Ladies applauds accomplished women whose recognition had not been given because of the image most men had of women.
