Trading encouraged many different things, for example; Nations became stronger because of exporting more than importing, taxes were also made because of trading to make extra money. In some cases, sailing wasn’t that great, people found new places and abused them. For example, Francisco Pizarro sailed down to South America where Pizarro had “heard tales of the incredibly wealthy Inca Empire,” when he had gotten there he captured the Incan ruler, destroyed much of the Incan army, and controlled most of the Incan Empire. Pizarro and Cortez conquered the lands by using things the Native Americans didn’t have, for example, they had guns and cannons, dogs, horses, friendly Natives who hated their gods and fought with them, and (because of the dead) disease spread unknowingly and most of the Native Americans were defeated. On October 12, 1492, an Italian merchant by the name of Christopher Columbus landed on an island in the New World. With him he brought three ships and a small crew of Spaniards. After exploring other islands, Columbus came one that he called Hispaniola; here, they found seemingly primitive and naϊve natives that they immediately began to take advantage of. However, little did they know that this first meeting would bring exploration of South and Central America that would wreak havok among the Natives. Throughout the period of European Expansion, Natives were ripped from their home and forced to work day in and day out.
For one thing, I do not know that the largest pyramid in the world is actually in the Americas. I find this very surprising, because I have always thought that the largest pyramid is in Egypt, until I takes this class. Some of the foundational that that we adapted from Native America are parrots and balls of cotton and spears. In my point of view, I do not think that Christopher Columbus was truly discoverer of the Bahama is land, because the Arawaks people was already there. Even though, the Arawaks people was naked, and they did not know the value of good things such as gold.
America’s colonization by the Europeans happened in the Age of Exploration, where Europe travelled the world in search of raw materials, land, and trade parties. North America was first discovered by Spain. The Spanish monarchs gave approval to Christopher Columbus to find new and faster route for the Asian Indies. Columbus ran into North American and was convinced he had bumped into the Indies and so he names the natives Indians, he soon learned otherwise. Spain realized the riches of the new world such as gold, silver, and the natives who could be used for slaves.
What is the sugar trade? Well the sugar trade is when Christopher Columbus brought it with him across the Atlantic in 1495. Then in the 1500’s the Portuguese led the new world sugar production. The Age of Exploration occurred from 1400 to 1700 C.E. It is famously known as the Age of Exploration because it was a time when explorers from Europe travelled by sea to explore west of them, and make many geographical advances. Exploration was motivated by gold, glory, and God. Along with their motivation, the Europeans also wanted to find trading partners, new goods, new trade routes, and simply find new land. “Columbus, the Indians, and Human Progress”, chapter one of “A People’s History of the United States”, written by professor and historian Howard Zinn, concentrates on a different perspective of major events in American history. It begins with the native Bahamian tribe of Arawaks welcoming the Spanish to their shores with gifts and kindness, only then for the reader to be disturbed by a log from Columbus himself – “They willingly traded everything they owned… They would make fine servants… With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.” (Zinn pg.1) In the work, Zinn continues explaining the unnecessary evils Columbus and his men committed unto the unsuspecting natives.

Exploration began around1492, when Christopher Columbus “discovered” North America. His discovery, however, is not one of true meaning due to the fact that there were already 40 to 50 million natives living there already. Along with Columbus were many other European explorers that set out to find things such as god, gold, and glory. These macho explorers were greedy and ruthless.

Age of Exploration was a period of time from thousands of years ago, during which European ships were traveled around the world searching for trading routes and partners to help Europe. Lands were used to maintain foods and keep them from spoiling. Lands, however, were expensive and dangerous to get. Traders had to travel from a land route from Europe to Asia to get them. Europeans were desperate to get lands from Asia.
