Good afternoon, everyone. Before I start my presentation, I would like all of you to think of an answer to this question. Would you like to be intelligent, far cleverer than normal people, but have social disabilities? Or be a social butterfly, but fail in exams even though you try your best? This brings us to Christopher, who is the protagonist and the narrator of the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, written by Mark Haddon. Christopher is a 15-year-old boy with an autism spectrum condition, which made him a clever and observant person. However, at the same time, he cannot talk to strangers or understand any expressions or feelings. To start with I will first briefly describe the plot of the story, then I will share my thoughts and reflections about the story with you.

The story starts with Christopher discovering the dead body of the neighbor’s dog, Wellington, and so he decided to investigate who was the murderer. After a long-lasting search, he finally revealed that his dad was the murderer of Wellington and he lied about the supposed death of Christopher’s mum. The book ends with …show more content…

But Christopher, as an autistic teenager, seems to enjoy his mental and emotional isolation. There are two main reasons for this. First, even though he has social disabilities, he likes being on his own. Christopher once said ‘’I am happy when I am still awake at three or four in the morning and I can walk up and down the street and pretend that I am the only person in the world’’. Also, he included ‘sometimes when I want to be on my own I get into the airing cupboard in the bathroom and slide in beside the boiler and pull the door behind me and sit there and think for hours and it makes me feel very calm.’’ Christopher didn’t like talking to others, instead he liked isolating himself, sitting in a wardrobe thinking about life for a whole day, which makes him feel
