Interviewer: Good evening and welcome to Mila’s brush with fame. Today we are joined by the Parish Priest: Rev. Gus Portokalos, from the Greek Orthodox Church of Wollongong. Which is derived from the beliefs systems of the Eastern Orthodox culture. The Church is the joint combination of “autocephalous”, which is greek for self headed, Churches, with the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople being the only autocephalous head who holds the title primus inter pares, "first among equals" in Latin.
Interviewee: Yes the history of the church is quite rich, orthodoxy is a stream of Christianity, that was developed from the spread of the church through eastern Rome of Byzantine in the first few centuries after Jesus walked the earth. The churches were founded by The churches founded by the Apostles themselves include the Patriarchates of Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, and Rome. The Church of Constantinople was founded by St. Andrew, the Church of Alexandria by St. Mark, the Church of Antioch by St. Paul, the Church of Jerusalem by Sts. Peter and James, and the Church of Rome by Sts. Peter and Paul. Those founded in later years through the missionary activity of the first churches were the Churches of Sinai,

Interviewee: Yes from the disagreements over the Roman Pope’s claim to supremacy and the doctrine of the Holy Spirit – led to the split between the Eastern Church and the Western Church.
