Tim Burton is a film director who has produced some very well received movies. Early in his life he add many influences two of whom were the Grimm brother’s and Roald dahl’s stories.Early in his apprenticeship Burton produced Vincent a Short film that shows Vincent a small child who dreams of playing as actor Vincent Price in Edgar Allan Poe's stories. After Vincent he started working on films as a director. Director Tim Burton's Style is a darker more suspenseful style, as shown in his movies Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, and Nightmare before Christmas; the three cinematic techniques that best portray this style are low-key lighting, non-diegetic music/sound, and the establishing shot. First, low-key lighting is one cinematic technique that Burton applies to his Films. One example of low-key lighting is, in Burton's film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, when the group walks toward the factory the entire factory is covered in shadows. The first piece of evidence is from the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, . the first time the factory exterior is shown. These shots show to factory and establish the fact that the factory is a dark place. The second Piece of evidence is from Edward Scissorhands, When the camera shows the village and mansion for the first time. This shot is the one that shows that the mansion is dark and suspenseful contrary to the town.The last establishing shot to be used by burtonis in the film Nightmare before christmas, during the scene where the “Halloween” song took place. This segment shows Halloween for the first time and establishes the darker mood for Halloween. To conclude Tim Burton uses the Establishing shot to establish a darker mood for the
