As a kid, I remember sitting in front of the television screen being intrigued by all of the food commercials flashing before my eyes. Because I was only about the age of nine or ten, I could be easily influenced to want certain products. I was too young to just go out to the store and buy a product on my own, so I’d tell my parents to put it on the grocery list for the next time one of them went shopping. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch commercial in 2009 was one that I recall that really grabbed my attention. It was a cereal commercial created by General Mills that was first introduced in 1984 (“Cinnamon”). For instance, the repeated slogan “Crave Those Crazy Squares” is tempting the consumer to try the cereal. Such a short, yet simple phrase can go a long way when advertising a product to children. This commercial advertisement is only thirty seconds long, but still has the power to influence consumers to buy the product. The commercial starts with an aerial view of a big blue cereal bowl. The bowl contains the two cinnamon square characters inside, while the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal box stands in the background. The camera zooms in on the two cinnamon square characters in the bowl. Their facial expressions consist of bulging eyes and small mouths that change shapes with their emotions. There is no actual dialogue between the characters, but background music is playing. The cinnamon squares stand so that they are both facing forwards, ensuring that the audience gets the best view. The cinnamon square on the right slyly sticks out his tongue and licks the other as if to suggest that he tastes so good, which makes him seem irresistible. The cinnamon square on the left notices that something has touched him, but acts confused as
