The first article i Chose to read is The slow death of Israeli citizenship written by Marzuq Al-Halabi on october 15, 2017. This article discusses the issue of citizenship facing the people living in Israel current day. The high court is in charge of citizen issues and will grant different levels of citizenship to different people. It has become increasingly difficult to acquire citizenship if one is not Jewish. Israel is not granting citizenship to many of the Muslim people that live with in the borders of their land. It is in some cases easier for someone living abroad with jewish ancestry to gain citizenship than someone who has lived in that land for generations. The article discusses how the conflict with Palestine is not helping to gain citizenship for people who are muslim living in Israel. There is a lot of scholarly background on the article seeing as this is a major issue for people in the region and those who are citizen living abroad. There has been issues with citizenship in israel since it was created because they gave land that had people living in it to a ethnic religion. Jews believe that the land should be only for jewish people but there are many muslims living there and the law makers are making it hard on them. The faiths of the people are what is causing conflict, if everyone was one religion there would be none. That is not that cause different people of faiths believe they have claim on the land either because they have been there for generations or their people now own the land. Both have footing but neither would be having a issue if religion was not in the way. The second article is about reform and orthodox Jewish members of society in Israel, and how the reform are less in the eyes of the orthodox. The orthodox believe that the reform are sinning and that they are not living as good the orthodox. The article states how when israel was formed that the rabbinate who was in charge of life decision is a strictly orthodox community. They can block marriages and funerals from taking place in certain locations and to certain people respectively. A reform could not marry a orthodox jew and if a reform died in service of their country they might not be able to be buried in a jewish cemetery. The article talks about how the orthodox are alienating themselves from modern day judaism and causing people to become reform. The article stresses the point that all jews are jews and that one group should not try to force others to follow their strict rules if they don't want
