Abraham Lincoln once said, “with high hope for the future, no prediction is ventured”. Everyone is apprehensive about the future. Have Americans lost hope for the future of America? As the years go by more and more Americans are losing hope each and every day. Many historical events have given us hope for the future. However these events have positive and negative aspects to them. We are in the year of of 2017 as we still look back on how the history of America gives us hope for the future. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended all segregation in public places, such as schools. It also banned employment discrimination against race, color, sex, national origin, and religion. Title 7 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a federal law that was passed and it prohibited employers from discriminating against employees based on their sex, race, color, religion, etc. This dealt mostly and mainly with women and African Americans. They also ended up allowing women to vote in the United States of America. Franklin Delanor Roosevelt’s New Deal was a series of federal programs that helped the unemployed Americans after the Great Depression happened. After the Great Depression at least one quarter of all the American work force were not employed. When President Franklin Delanor Roosevelt was in office in the year of 1933 he tried to stabilize the economy. Also by providing a lot of relief and jobs to all of those Americans who were suffering after the Great Depression. The New Deal that President Roosevelt came up with did not end the Great Depression however it was a success because it restored the public’s confidence and it created new programs that brought relief to the millions of Americans that were suffering.
