The Union’s approach to ending the Civil War and restoring the country was ultimately quite bold. Along with this, the Union handled restoration, mainly involving the issue of slavery, step by step until stability could exist again. The Union's main concerns were preventing the Confederacy from gaining any political power, aid from abroad, or strong military strength. By displaying complete power and determination over these issues, the ability to put an end to the rebellion would be much easier.

As one can see, evidence shows the primary cause of the Civil War was slavery because of the many more slaves than free blacks, the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854 fought over slave or free states, and Dred Scott fought for his freedom from slavery.

They did not foresee how extending slavery into western territories could lead to a Civil War. The controversy over the extension of slavery into western territories contributed to the Civil war by politicizing the issue so no politician could be neutral on it, by creating a fight for economic influence between the North and South, and by increasing the feelings superiority/separation between the North and South.
During the era before Civil War, there were different serious problems that lied under the surface of the society, which caused the gap between the North and the South to expand throughout time. Within the United States of America, both sides disagreed on each other’s economic resources, political ideas, and perspectives about the issues among slavery. Due to these disagreements, many compromises and negotiations were introduced in order to unite the North and the South, and to prohibit them from becoming more segregated. Despite the effort of these compromises, none of the issues was being correctly and completely solved either by the federal government or by the current president of that time.

We are experiencing a time in our Country where tensions are high and the stakes are higher. When presented with this topic I instantaneously knew I wanted to write about the Civil War. The Civil War is an important part of our Countries history for many reasons, end of slavery, advancements in trade deals, and the beginning of the end of segregation. If it is no longer taught in school it will undoubtedly lead to the destruction of our Country.
