The Civil War as noted by many historians as the First Great War was a huge growing pain for our country as a nation and of free people. As all wars are the cost is high and the weight is heavy. The burden of conflict has always rested with the man with the biggest guns and the heart of steel that is the man of the Field
Next, when the North had more upper class people due to wealth, it caused the North and South to disagree with how money should be obtained. The South argued that slavery was the answer and the North argued that factories were what had to be done. In one of the documents, it said, “There were 22 million people in the North compared with only 9 million in the South” (Document 7). This means there was more money being made in the North due to more people working in factories versus money being made selling cotton produced by slaves on plantations. The disputes on money were a huge factor in causing the Civil War.
The first main cause of the Civil War was economic differences between the Northern and Southern states. During the first few decades of the 19th century, the North had an industrial revolution that brought an economy that relied on laborers. While at the same time, the South continued to rely on slaves for their farming and the production of cotton. The Northerners did not need slaves for their economy, but the Southerners could not make any profit without cotton or slaves. In the 1860’s, the North had twice as many railroads as the South, and the South had a bigger cotton production because of their slave population (Document A).
v. Human Suffering, Hoarding, and Inflation:- The war caused economic dislocations in the South that resulted in great suffering for many people. The Federal blockade created shortages of important commodities in the South, while Confederate financial policies generated intense price inflation. vi. Inequities of the Confederate Draft:- Wealthier southerners seemed immune to many of the problems that others faced, and anger over the elite’s exemptions from conscription led to tensions in the South.
Following the Civil War, more than two percent of America’s population was lost. Between 1800 and 1860, there were a number of economic, political, and social factors that had contributed to the Civil War. The North was more economically stable with the idea of manufacturing, while the South was focused on agriculture and slavery. Politically, compromises and multiple acts created to end arguments were starting to quickly diminish. The North and South were constantly in competition with each other for more power in the House of Representatives.
The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars ever fought in American soil. Around 620,000 out of 2.4 million soldiers perished and left much of the south in complete ruin. It all started when the northern states wanted to vanish all type of slavery and spread this idea towards the western states. The southern states economy came majorly from large farms that were dependent on the slaves. This northern idea of anti-slavery meant that the slaves and that the economy of the southern states were in danger.
By the end of the Civil War, the South was in a state of political upheaval, social disorder, and economic decay. The Union’s tactics of total war destroyed southern crops, plantations, and entire cities, and hundreds of thousands of emancipated slaves rushed to Union lines as their masters fled the oncoming Union army. Inflation became so severe that by the end of the war a loaf of bread cost several hundred Confederate dollars. Thousands of southerners starved to death, and many who did not starve lost everything they owned: clothing, homes, land, and slaves. As a result, by 1865, policymakers in Washington had the nearly impossible task of southern Reconstruction.
The American civil war began approximately seventy eight years after the revolution that formed the United States had been won. This war was the deadliest war the United States has fought to date, and served to resolve two important questions that lingered after the end of the revolution: would the U.S. be an indivisible nation with a sovereign national government, or a dissolvable confederation of sovereign states, and if a nation created upon the foundation that all men have an inalienable right to freedom would continue to be the largest slaveholding country in the world. This Civil war had many causes, the principle among them being sectional divisions over the spread of slavery into the territories, a series of failed slave compromises,
After America became an independent country it was divided into the north region and the south region. There was a conflict between both regions; the north we anti-slavery while in the south slavery was the backbone of their living. Therefore they declared war on each other. When the civil war came in 186, America was not prepared. Due to the absence of professional and experienced leaders, both the north and south turned to the middle class to cooperate in the war including lawyers, teachers, businessmen as well as those with political experience.
I am willing to take chances of…disunion, sooner than submit any longer to Northern insolence and Northern outrage." (Document I). 618,000 people died during the Civil War. Economic differences between the North and the South, interpretations of the Constitution, the thought of slavery was morally wrong what caused the Civil War . The states were suppose to create a union but ended up not happening.
During the 19th century, twenty-three states began a furious war, known as the Civil War, after waging tension for decades because of economic problems. Slavery was a common practice back in the olden days with many people depending on it while others tried to end it. Citizens struggled with the government's many acts and compromises making confusing state rights and breaking up communities. The Southerners and Northerners raised their economies in different ways and both sides were worried of the outcome of a westward expansion. The Unionists attitude towards slavery, state rights, and economics impacted people’s opinions to be for or against the bloodshed of the Civil War.
The root of the civil war was that the south was using slaves in the cotton and tobacco farms and the south was greedy. The farms were called plantations were all the slave would be working on them and they would not get pay for there work. first reason why would the south was greedy was because they were selfish the would make the slave do the hard work. The would punish the slaves if the wouldn't
The Civil War was a monumental bloodshed, which was fought between the United States of America and the Confederate States, from 1861 to 1865. The primary cause of the war was the Southern states' desire to preserve the institution of slavery, which did not please the beliefs of the North. At the beginning of the Civil War, twenty-two million people lived in the North and 9 million people, which included four million of whom were slaves, lived in the South. The North, led by President Abraham Lincoln and his trusted generals, had more money, more factories, more horses, more railroads, and more food than the south. These advantages made the United States much more powerful than the Confederate States, which ultimately led to Northern victory.
When Charles Darwin first published his findings about evolution, Christians have been disagreeing on his sayings about evolution. Evolution is the process in which organisms have developed in the history of the earth. There has been controversy from the religious point of view and from the scientific point of view.
One of the several factors that helped cause the Civil War was the economy at the time. While the economy wasn’t in bad shape, the North and South were different and had very different views and ideas about their futures. The Northern area couldn 't have huge farms like the South. However, they were very diverse in the items they wanted to produce.
