Although some maintain that success comes easier to people who come from a higher class family, giving them a better opportunity, those who come from a lower class family have a more difficult time succeeding, I argue that no matter what class you come from, being able to succeed is the same amount of effort because success is different for everyone. According to George Packer, author of Sam Walton/Jay Z, success comes easily to those who come from higher class, like Sam Walton, founder of Walmart. One of the profiles he includes is one of a man named Harold S Browning. In his early years, Browning was watched over by a governess and went to a high profile private school. He attended sleepaway camp in Northern Connecticut which provided instruction in creative arts, athletics, and natural sciences. When he reached high school he went to a “prestigious preparatory school”, had a private SAT tutor, and took private riding lessons. Throughout his life his family enjoyed many activities together such as, going to theaters, recitals, European Vacations, and Caribbean getaways in the winter. After graduating high school he continued his education at an Ivy League Liberal Arts college in Massachusetts. His first job in the work force was assistant manager at Browning Tool and Die Inc., his family business. He then went on to become executive assistant to the president of the company. He was also advertising manager at Lockheed Manufacturing and Director of marketing and sales at Comerex Inc. His current employment is the Vice President of SmithBond & Co. He owns two homes with his primary residence being an eighteenth floor condo with eleven rooms professionally decorated. I believe that success is different for everyone and that your economic/social status has no role in it. The way I see it, anyone and everyone can be a success story. As long as an individual reaches where they want to be in life, they’re successful. A person who has worked in a business since they were in high school and aspired to become the manager after high school and reaches that goal, they’re successful. If someone has had a life goal of becoming a doctor, they’re successful as well. So, no matter who you are, what your economic/social class, or your dreams and ambitions, as long as you get to where you want to be in life, you are
