CLEOPATRA PHILOPATOR Cleopatra Philopator lived a short life with many obstacles and challenges “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever,” Psalms 73:26. She became an intelligent pharaoh of Egypt, and did everything in her power to stay on the throne. Philopator overruled her brothers and sisters, and became the Pharaoh of Egypt. Philopater ruled for nearly twenty-one years before her death. Cleopatra Philopator came into this world in 69-70 BC, the child of Cleopatra V and Ptolemy XII.
This can be shown by various plays and movies. CONCLUSION Cleopatra was one of the greatest leaders of her time. She seduced two powerful men and had children with them. She was a fairly violent leader, however, she was very strategic, and knew very well how to get herself out of, or into a situation.
Cleopatra VII was born sometime between 69 BC and 68 BC. Her and her two older sisters were the beautiful daughters of Ptolemy XII, A weak and struggling ruler of Egypt, and his wife who is unknown. After Cleopatra’s mother died her father remarried and had a girl and two boys. Although all of the children loved each other, they were always trying to outshine one another in attempt to win the power of the throne.
Cleopatra By: Stacy Schiff, is a biography of the famous Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra, who single-handedly shaped and dramatically impacted both the Egyptian and Roman Empires of her time. However, Stacy Schiff’s book is not merely a biography that simply tells the life and achievements of Cleopatra, rather her thesis, or main point, in writing the book is to show the reader how little is factually known about Cleopatra. Furthermore, of what is known, the historical reports are very subjective, over exemplified, contradictory and thereby inaccurate. Additionally, according to Schiff, Cleopatra today is remembered for the wrong reasons, primarily her seduction of the two Roman Emperors of the time, Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, which severely
Cleopatra, Last of the Ptolemies Cleopatra now is more commonly identified by her stunning beauty, but that is not all there was to her although her looks and sex appeal did help her rule there was more to the young girl who ruled Egypt at the early age of eighteen. A queen who played a role in several of her siblings’ deaths and married her younger brother aged twelve at the time of marriage was also a queen who took charge and ruled Egypt her way, disregarding tradition and put in a great amount of effort to solve the conflict between Egypt and Rome. The question here is should we hold Cleopatra at the high stake that we do, naming her one of the most important women in history? “Was she an extravagant queen who reveled in luxury and
Cleopatra lived a very significant life, through manipulation, seduction, and cleverness she managed to be successful through not only her life, but also her reign as one of the most well-known pharaohs of Egypt. Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator was born in Egypt during the year 69 BCE, and was a” descendent of a Macedonian general” who attended to “Alexander the Great”, her family ruled for a long time and had a lot of power(Jarus). She is one of the most well-known women in history, and lived a very significant life. She ruled a large portion of Egypt for twenty-two years, beginning her reign at the young age of eighteen, and ruling until her death at age thirty-nine (Schiff 1).
She was a powerful and an allurious woman that got what she wanted, when she wanted it; she was a game-changer. By way of her determination seen through her intellectual, resourceful, and manipulative ways, Cleopatra was a history game-changer. Cleopatra was wise, perhaps one of the most intellectual woman in Egyptian history. Being the only person in her family that spoke the Egyptian
My opinion on Cleopatra is that she was a very powerful and smart lady because she was made an alliance with Rome that helped her to keep her place
Cleopatra was in it for the fame and glory, as well as for the power that came along with it. This made her a fierce and respected leader of her time. About a millenia and a half years later came another of the world 's most famous female leaders. Although she was more a teenager than a woman, Jeanne D’Arc, known as Joan of Arc, was one of the most legendary female figures ever. Joan barely even had a childhood.
Cleopatra’s Influence on the Roman Empire Cleopatra VII has become one of the most well-known ruler and Egyptian in era of the Roman Empire because of her suppose beauty, cunning personality and her influence on the Roman Republic which turned into an Empire shortly after her death. While she is not Roman citizen herself, her relations with Julius Caesar and later Mark Antony are what brought her influence of power into Roman society and expanded her own in Egypt. Just like any ruler in history she sought power which was not something easily done as a woman in that time, however primary sources such as Josephus and Cassius Dio often do not refer to her as a great ruler, but as a seductress
Cleopatra’s family was not any different, she did what she had to do to restore the country she loved. Although she was not fit to be the ruler of Egypt, Cleopatra did restore Egypt to former glory because of her determination, strong alliances, and hunger to keep her family’s dynasty alive. Because of her passion and undeniable love for her country and people, Cleopatra was the best leader of the Ptolemaic
I preferred Cleopatra over Spartacus base on its popularity, intrigue, love, tragedy, and quest for power. The movie opens with Caesar entrance into Alexandria, Egypt shortly after a battle in Pharsalus as he defeated Pompey’s army to have control of the Roman Empire. He suspected Pompey may have escaped to Egypt after their fierce battle to enlist the young Egyptian ruler Pharaoh Ptolemy XIII and his sister Cleopatra. The background setting shows the ancient view of the palace and the costume of art and fashion culminated with beauty and splendor.
She fought for her throne she was a strong female leader living in an ancient, male dominant, and yet made her impact on history. Cleopatra’s leadership distinguished her from the other Cleopatra’s of her day. She is an important leader to Egypt and also one of the most influenced female leaders in her time with more power than most female leaders can acquire. She is an important female leader in history because her life in leadership influenced her people, Egypt, and the world that they can also rule their
Queen Cleopatra V was the queen of Egypt who ruled during the Ptolemaic dynasty until her death in 30 BCE when she saw her city defeated by the Romans and decided to take her life. It is stated, “She was simply on the wrong side of a power struggle” (Wasson, 2016) and rightly so since she was an Egyptian Greek whose territory was subdued by the Romans for their own benefit and selfish interests. The power struggle referred to is between the Egyptian army with CLeopatra V as the Queen and the Roman army under Gaius Julius Octavius as their leader in Rome. Rome as a strong empire in the region was subduing all territories on all sides of the Mediterranean especially if it had interests in the region. Egypt strategically located to the mediterranean sea and next to the Nile was advantageous with very fertile soils and were thriving in grain and wheat, Rome saw this as an opportunity to take over a region that would benefit them for trade and supply the region with grain for the growing population.
