Nevertheless, several conjectures can be made about the possible change in history. If the Indians had been listened to, there was a possibility that different peoples could have lived side by side in peace and mutual respect. However, that could have delayed American growth, or provided a path to more peaceful negotiations with other nations in the future. Another possibility is that, white settlers could have still been hostile, but the indigenous peoples wouldn’t have suffered government removal. Instead of living on tiny reservations, perhaps today Native Americans would still live on large swathes of land, still unshakable in their customs.
Today I interviewed my Tia Maria, she is my mothers aunt who is 89 years old. Maria lives in old San Juan Puerto Rico with her daughter Suky. She has lived on the island all of her life. I had the privilege to interview her and learn some great facts about her life and listen to a couple of great stories about her good old days on the shorelines of Puerto Rico. I was pretty impressed on how they lived and how much they depended on the land for substance and gain.
I love the visual images that Black Elk gives when he talks about the village or war party made up of all the different nations. The number of people that must have been there in order for you to not be able to see all of the tepees that were in the valley is truly astounding. That would have been an amazing place to be. I would have loved to see how all of the people intermingled, and interacted. There might have been a very large intermixing of families at the event.

I choose the subsection in which call numbers fall between 000-7XX, covering Dewey decimal classes: Generalities, Philosophy and Psychology, Religion, Social Science, Language, Natural Science and Mathematics, Technology (Applied Sciences), and Arts, totally about 400 titles. The summer before eleventh grade, I was given the opportunity to travel to Tsawout, a First Nations reserve situated in Vancouver Island for a week on a short-term missions trip. While assisting to run a camp for the children in the reserve, I was exposed to the mental and emotional burden for those whom had experienced, and were victims of residential schools. Many of the Tsawout Elders witnessed the death of their culture and the brutality these schools wrought on those impacted: families and survivors. The Elders expressed their outrage and past struggles with passion, laying bare their innermost thoughts and ordeals. They challenged me to open my eyes to beyond the reaches of my comfort zone.

As a young conquistador coming to a strange land that has a large pyramid with thousands of people surrounding it as they were chanting and yelling while looking toward the very top of the stairs that led to the top of the pyramid. You see people at the top and notice how they are cutting out the hearts of these human sacrifices and tossing them down the stairs. You stare in horror and notice what a terrible and cruel place you have come across. There was human sacrifice going on and gruesome wars over land that ultimately led to more and more death. But then you take another look around and see their agriculture and all the amazing irrigation systems they have set up and you 're completely shocked about how well their farming systems are.
The Symbolic Meanings of the Hold Button While facing a life-threatening illness, one tries to hold on and tries to control things around them. This is very prevalent in Angels in America by Tony Kushner. The hold button that Roy uses contains a good deal of symbolism in regards to his control over his life, but also to his control over words and their meanings. Through this, one can see his continuing attempts to gain more control over his life as it is slipping away from him. Not only is Roy’s use of the hold button symbolic of his repressed gay identity, but it also enables him to assert his dominance and control over words, his fate, and others.
A lot of loneliness would be coursing through the communities; there would be no sense of unity between people. Less and less people would travel. Less people would experience other cultures. Unlike many people around the world, I have been fortunate enough to obtain education abroad and experience cultural diversities of the world we live in. It has been such a joy to be able to interact with people from different cultures and engage in conversations that widen my perspective and enrich my cultural knowledge. My experiences abroad also enabled me to find my passion for foreign language learning and teaching that led me to get an education at the University of Kansas. I believe that learning foreign languages and culture not only enable people to see the world differently and develop compassion and tolerance at a personal level, but also contribute to the world peace in the long run. Trying new things, and taking an adventure has always been my mantra whenever I approach something unfamiliar and foreign to me. That is exactly what I did when I decided to participate in formal recruitment this year. Taking the adventure and next step to get involved with the Quinnipiac community and find my niche in this expansive community. My parents were skeptical at first of me going out for recruitment, nevertheless, they still encouraged me to broaden my horizons and get involved. My interest in intercultural communication and determination of pursuing a career in international education motivated me to apply for the MA ICBP at Warwick University.
