The titles I enjoyed most in the past year that were required included "How to Read Literature Like a Professor" by Thomas Foster, which analyzed how to go beyond the surface of literature. "Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes" by Edith Hamilton condensed the majority of mythology into one piece, aiding in the identification of allusions in other works that I have read. Another piece I surprisingly enjoyed to read was the piece "Everything's an Argument" by Andrea Lunsford, which explained the different fundamental pieces of arguments and how an effective argument is developed. I enjoyed these three readings the most during the past year because they went beyond the usual school reading assignment. Each of these provide a new tool
Scents are like demons because they are always there whether you know it or not. Demons tend to stay quiet and creep up on you in the exact same way scents do. For instant you decide to go visit a friend at their home afterschool. Immediately as you walk in you can tell there is a certain smell coming from inside the house. Lynda Barry’s excerpt has a powerful meaning of how people perceive themselves.
We need to appreciate book and their value. We need to go in depth and fully understand what something
This historical document was written by Private John G. Burnett. Burnett’s diary entry was written on December 11, 1890. As he hunted more and more, he became acquainted with many of the Cherokee Indians who grew to eventually become his friends.
The story "Eleven" by Sandra Cineros is written in the first person point if view. It‘s very important that Sandra Cineros wrote this story in the first point of view, because if she wrote the story in a different point of view you won‘t really feel what she‘s she‘s felling and you won‘t hear what really going on in her brain and how she felt about this situation. Her thought‘s were actually helping express the theme of this story and if we can‘t hear her though‘s then the theme of the story wouldn‘t be as clear.

Arcadia (play)- Tom Stoppard: A play about the second law of thermodynamics going from enlightenment order to romantic disorder, from logic to love, and from past to present. This story explores the importance of both STEM and the humanities, which helped me bridge the schism between the two fields. The math and science infused with a story about romance made it one of my favorite plays. Naive Set Theory (book)- Paul R. Halmos: A book about set theory, covering the Axiom of Choice, Ordinal Numbers, and Cardinal Numbers.
To understand what is LAD, we need to think deeper to a child’s experiences in learning language. Saffran, R. J. et al. (1996) states that, “Before infants can begin to map words onto objects in the world, they must determine which sound sequences are words. To do so, infants must uncover at least some of the units that belong to their native language from a largely continuous stream of sounds in which words are seldom surrounded by pauses. Despite the difficulty of this reverse-engineering problem, infants successfully segment words from fluent speech from seven months of age”.
