The Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) is used by health professionals to help and improve the process of enhancing health care decisions to improve the quality of patient care. In many different health care settings, CDSS has great impact on items such as the clinical decision making by clinicians and efficiency of healthcare delivery for quality patient care and outcomes. Healthcare professionals enhance their clinical decisions on patient care accurately and successfully by combining their professional knowledge with the appropriate use of CDSS. Clinical Decision Support System is no doubt a very effective system in different health care organizations in the United States. Health Information continues to expand and new diagnoses and new medications are being discovered. Healthcare providers will need some time for understanding the logic of the clinical decision support system and need additional trainings and technical support from the organizations.
The protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 mandates that starting January 1, 2017, the use of the CDSS is required for diagnostic imaging exams such as CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine and PET [4]. Healthcare providers must get education and trained for the advanced CDSS technology to comply with the mandate by the U.S. federal government. The hospital management needs to select a clinical leader and ‘Clinical Champions’ to have successful of CDSS implementation for these technical staffs who require to use. The clinical champions usually Physician Champion (PC) and play a very important role in the CDSS implementation. “The PC helps to “lead the charge” and acts as the “Change Agent” for the CDS intervention. In fact, leadership is widely considered as important as the quality of the technology.” [2]. Effective leadership from leaders and clinical champions will spend time to work with teams, to have CDSS education and training and to support workflow from the beginning stage to the end stage
