Recently, I interviewed my Psychology Professor for a research narrative. He answered my questions in an orderly manner. However, a response he had to a question stood out to me. "Millennials know the vocabulary. I am not sure if they understand any of the underlined information that they probably should have". He is referring to the new generation knowing terms of mental illness, but not grasping the depth meaning of it. Personally, I always felt that I knew some information about the illness of the mind. However, his words made me reanalyze what I know. One mental illness that I wanted to direct my attention to understanding is Clinical Depression. Clinical Depression is a minimum of 5 symptoms of depression that continues on for more than two weeks. These symptoms can be feelings of worthless, depressed throughout the day, Insomnia or sleeping too much, problems in decision-making, and constant thoughts of suicide. Overall the prognosis of this disorder can be severe and can last for weeks, months, or years. …show more content…

The etiology of depression is a combo of genetics, social, and psychological (Grohol). This is not abnormal because the incidence of depression was recently found to be 9 percent in Americans by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Iliades, 2013). This illness manifests in a person by making a person show a negative difference in how one interacts in their daily life. A way to change a depressed lifestyle is to intervene with what one does in life. Emily Deans M.D states in her article Lifestyle Intervention for Depression that exercise and the sunshine can be ways to help when someone has depression. When one exercises, they are improving the function in their brain. If you add the sunshine to this then can help decrease Depression (Dean,
