I will help you, but first let me tell you about the Closing-Time Effect, which is the idea that people become more attracted to members of the opposite sex when social areas, such as bars, are about to close. To test this theory, researchers conducted an experiment in a pub in Australia. Participants were told the experiment was about social perceptions, and were given a glow stick to wear on their wrist so researchers could identify participants, and participants could identify each other. The participants rated other participants on a scale of 1 (highly unattractive) to 5 (highly attractive) several times throughout the night. The blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of the participants was also measured several times throughout the experiment. The results showed opposite-sex attractiveness increased, while same-sex attractiveness remained constant. Alcohol does have an impact on attraction. Participants found each other most attractive at the end of the night when their BAC’s were the highest.
