I’m a Bachelor of Commerce student with a major in International Business. I’m also enrolled in the Cooperative Education (Co-op) program, and I’m currently completing my first internship in Brand Advertising working full-time for a large and well-established company. I live alone in an apartment, which I pay for myself. My home life is calm and quiet, and I find it very supportive of my studies. I have an office space dedicated to studying, and I often study from home. In order to be successful in my studies, it is very important to me to minimize distractions, have a space where I can be organized, study in a calm environment, and get good rest. Co-op offers excellent opportunities to gain workplace experience, network in my field, and build a professional resume. I sincerely hope to remain in this program and I’m doing everything I can to secure the funding to maintain full-time studies next semester. This includes applying for part-time jobs, as well as researching and applying for scholarships and bursaries. However, without being awarded an In-Course bursary, I may have to drop out of the Co-op program to study part-time so that I can work enough to support myself, or take a semester off to work and save some money to pay for …show more content…

I was diagnosed with ADHD last year which has really helped me understand myself better as a student and to know that I need to allocate extra time for studying and be diligent about keeping my life calm, stable, and supportive of my academic goals. While this does present challenges, I’m learning to work with it in constructive ways, and be a successful student.
Finally, I am not bilingual which makes working and supporting myself in Montreal during my studies more challenging. I’m committed to learning French and have taken several French language courses both at Concordia, and through other schools. As well as limiting work opportunities the need to learn French also means dedicating time, and additional cost – both of which I have little of as a student.
I’ve applied for financial assistance through Aide financière aux études Quebec. As well, I’m researching other scholarships and bursaries I can apply for. Thus far, I will be applying to the PPPC Scholarship program, as well as awards offered to Co-op students, but I will also be continuing to research awards I can apply for throughout the rest of 2015 and in
