Coach Hart is the Athletic Director at Irvington Prepatory Academy in Indianapolis,
Indiana. Since taking over as the athletic director she has started a tradition with academic and
athletic accomplishments within the student-athletes of the different athletic programs. Coach
Hart has demonstrated strong leadership with consistent growth in the athletic department.
Irvington Prepatory Academy is known as one of the Charter Schools in Indianapolis. She has
continued to follow the school mission statement with a sense of purpose and commitment to
excellence. My observation of Coach Hart is that she has developed support and respect with
administration, teachers, staff, and the community.

He has an expectation for every young man that’s involved in the program to
strive for their best at every moment. Coach Lloyd list three ways an athlete can be successful
in the program: 1) Win your event. 2) Beat your goal for the meet. 3) Beat your personal record.
He feels that success depends on the individual. Commitment to hard work in practice, goal
setting, and faith will be the cornerstones of our success as a team and an individual.
Coach Lloyd believes that success in leadership is a journey that must be taken
individually. He feels that plans are made with that idea in mind. His thoughts would be for
creating an individual plan, formed within the team plan. Coach Lloyd thinks it’s important to
be honest as part of the team component, so as a leader would be the need to be prepared as
individuals. Coach Lloyd also states the Team means when creating and accepting an
atmosphere where the accomplishments of the Team are valued and celebrated alongside of

Coach Lloyd thinks if being in a leadership role it’s important to build the trust
within people are following along with sharing important ideas and visons, allowing followers to
buy in and trust in the person in the leadership role.
Coach Lloyd feels from a business perspective is not enough to just lead. He thinks that
strong leaders understand the business needs and what it means at a deeper level, in the terms
of performance and how to get the best out of the situation. He also thinks another important
aspect with some leaders taps into informal networks across the business in order to get the
best outcome for a business organization. Coach Lloyd has a better understanding for what is
needed and how to get the job accomplished. He feels they would also understand about the
break down the barriers that needs to be change, when they arise. He also states in a
leadership role of a business it’s important to be a few steps ahead, understanding the issues
and working out the plans that needs to be addressed before they happen.
