The Cold War began on September 2nd 1945, the day that the Japanese surrendered marking the end of World War II and the war ended on December 26th 1991. The Cold War was a state of both political and military tension after World War II between the powers in the Western Bloc and the Eastern Bloc, the United States and the Soviet Union primary. The Cold War was thought to have been caused by many different reasons including; fear and mistrust between the Soviet Union and the United States. The Soviet Union had fear of American attack and of the Americans atomic bomb whereas the Americans feared communist attack. On October 1st 1949, Mao Zedong, the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, established the People’s Republic of China. Which was able to bring to a end the long period of imperialism intrusion of China and was able to form a close relationship with the world most powerful and largest solicatist states. During all of this, Truman was being blamed for not trying to save China fall to communist. This affected the Cold War because the United States was not worried about China and their fall to communism, and now they have one more person on the opposite side as them. By the mid-1950’s the Soviet Union had become China's principal trading partner. It all started with the outbreak of hostilities on the Korean peninsula in the summer of 1950, where the focus drastically changed from the cold war in Europe to east Asia. In 1948, the establishment of two separate Korean states; the Republic of Korea in the south and the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea in the north. The Soviet Union and the United States troops then both withdrew. On the morning of June 25th 1950, the Pyongyang regime ordered more than a hundred troops across the thirty-eighth parallel in a surprise attack, pushing back South Korean defenders and capurating Seoul on June 27th. Well the United States was convinced that the USSR was a part of the attack, they persuaded the United Nations to adopt a resolution to repel the aggressor. They then went in armed with armies from twenty countries and captured Pyongyang within a few weeks. After two more years of fighting, with three million dead, both sides agreed to cease in July of 1953. The United States then extended military protection and economic aid to the non communist governments of Asia, and entered the Southeast Asian Treaty Organization (SEATO).
