Over the past seven weeks, the information obtained in this course has reiterated the knowledge needed to provide and advocate for positive healthcare outcomes using compassion, evidence-based, and collaborative advanced nursing practice. I agree that the program outcome #5 has been met. As a future NP, implementing compassionate care while using evidence-based guidelines to facilitate care will further enhanced patients’ well-being. According to Sinclair et al (2016), compassionate care is one of the main components in the foundation of quality healthcare standards set by patients, families, clinicians, and policymakers. Based on the Institute of Medicine Report -2010 recommendations, current health care system should incorporate team collaboration in the delivery of care, to enhanced accessibility, high-quality, patient-centered care to advance wellness, prevention of illness and adverse events (Farrell, Payne, & Heye, 2015). The course outcome has also prepared me to combined evidence-based practice with collaborative advanced nursing practice to improve patient’s outcomes. One example of this used in the clinical setting was done when working closely with other providers on the patient’s behalf to ensure continuous care to offer the best care possible. According to Dolan (2017), NP using ethical-decision will ensure professionalism that elevates their moral integrity. NPs who integrate ethical principles as a foundation in practice, such as using nonmaleficence and beneficence, will be motivated to initiate change, utilize research, and act to supports tough decision (Dolan, 2017). According to the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (2017), evaluating the ethical consequences of decisions, incorporates evaluating outcomes of short and long-term ethical decisions, debriefing and assessment of outcomes and ethical framework. I have learned to use autonomy and ethical principles in practice when caring for my patients. In the clinical setting, when in doubt, I refer questions or concerns to the provider with appropriate experience. Recently during my clinical rotation, the patient was prescribed a medication she was allergic to, I was able to detect this before the patient left the office and brought it to the provider’s attention.
