Ayn Rand depicts characters that make important choices; her characters select from alternatives available to them — significant and sometimes life-and-death issues. Equality 7-2521 is the most obvious example, but not the only character in the book to make such choices. He chooses to wonder about the Unspeakable Word when he could (and, according to this society, should) decide not to. He chooses to conceal both the existence of the tunnel and his experiments, refusing to bow to the Councils ' will. He chooses not to tell his captors where he has been though they torture him.
In “Fastbreak” by Mike Lupica, Jayson faces many struggles in poverty. Jayson has no money and he is all alone until he gets caught stealing. Now Jayson lives on the rich side of town with new people. Man Vs Self: Trevor In Graham Greene’s “The Destructors” conflicted is a character trait that Trevor prominently displays, as his attempts to bring down divisions within societies interfere with his past and current life. Trevor is one of the many people who have been negatively impacted by the effects of World War II as he and his family have lost their place in the upper hierarchy. Soon after, Trevor becomes the new leader of The Wormsley Common gang, a group of teenage boys living in a rough part of London.
