Courageously I have proceeded to apply for the Masters of Education program with a specialized focus in higher education administration. I am prepared to succumb the fear and doubt that comes with propelling your education to the next level. Before I transferred to the University of Illinois I had been enrolled and successfully completed courses at two other institutions previously. The various transitions affected several aspects of my scholarly experience including social life, university extracurricular involvement, and grades. Once accepted into the University of Illinois for the last year and half of my undergraduate career I made a stance to redeem myself. I sought a network of colleagues and mentors that dedicated their personal time to my cause; finishing my undergraduate degree within the 4 year margin. As I became involved in organizations like the National Association of Black Journalist and the university's athletic department performing as a video production editorial intern, I essentially contrived my talents and calling as a motivational figure and speaker among my peers. Discovering my niche as productive member of the campus I found ways to give back to the people of Champaign via community service and partnerships with the university's own Delta Sigma Theta sorority. I began to realize from my own circumstance and those actively involved with my educational path that there was a possibility I could change someone's educational direction someday too. I fell in love with the intricate process of teaching, relaying information effectively, and leading students to success. Through mutual educational goals and refined communication techniques acquired from my communication degree studies, I personally strived to make an impactful presence as a current and future education administrator. I believe this graduate studies opportunity will give me greater insight into the structure and theoretical approaches of higher education administration. I am particularly interested in the role of social media, technological platforms, and digital media literacy in education as of now.
