My passion for mathematics began when I was in preschool. I clearly remember myself indulging in the pleasure of counting to one hundred. Every year since then, I found myself pushing more vigorously to grasp more complicated mathematical concepts. It wasn’t until my sophomore year in high school that I narrowed down my interests into applied mathematics. In my sophomore year of high school I took AP physics and chemistry concurrently. Having the opportunity to apply all the complicated methods I’ve been intrigued by my entire life gave me direction.
When I was starting my junior year in high school, I met Apurva, a student in my physics class who had already taken multivariable calculus. He opened my eyes to greater possibilities for what can be achieved during your high school years. At our school, few people

I refused to let this obstacle stop me. I would do whatever necessary in order to follow my passion in mathematics. I became very fortunate when I heard about Professor Leonard’s YouTube channel from a friend. Professor Leonard has all of Calculus One and Calculus Two on YouTube for anyone to watch for free. With Professor Leonard’s lectures, College Board practice problems, and perseverance, I achieved the highest score on the AP Calculus BC Exam. Despite my counselor’s warnings that I may be biting off more than I can chew, I enrolled at a nearby community college in multivariable calculus, linear algebra and astronomy. Although I understand that she cares about my well being, I’m glad that I could take advanced classes in mathematics. I managed to pass all three community college level courses with an A while not sacrificing my my high school grades. Despite the difficulty of attending two schools, I am willing to work hard for what I’m passionate
