One of the great paradoxes of high school is that we know so little and yet must make such important life decisions. The logic behind this intrigued me, and begged me to ask the question of how to make these choices. As I glimpse into my future these career based decisions are ones that are necessary to make. I feel as though the quest into the college and career realm, is by far the most arduous, and impacts the potential prosperity of the student. The approach to finding the most fitting occupation or field of study I have frequently heard is, to experience a multitude of opportunities. The one which lingers with you is the one you love. Though this sounds like the most reasonable approach, I question, “What if I don't find something that interests me right away?”. Work experience relates directly to a percentage increase of those employed both directly out of high school, and out of college. As a part of the proposed solution each student would be required to do at least two internships while in high school; the internships will count as a credit. With the introduction of this, each student would be able to venture into different fields of study and lessen the uniformity of school that I feel. As a result, more people would have their careers on track at a younger age, as well as a stronger foundation in their field of choice. The endeavours of career searching in high school will bring more well rounded students to college campuses because they were able to participate in multiple career paths. The students will be able to use their money more wisely when making college decisions because they know or have a clearer idea of what they want to do and where they want to do
