Becoming a Better Scholar I’ve retyped the intro to that essay about five times and that alone should summarize my experience with writing. I’ve despised writing for as long as I can remember but through school I have learned and created my own style of writing. although I don’t like it I’ve learned to live with the fact that being a good writer is mandatory to make it in life these days. I believe that I’ve become a strong writer I have overcome many obstacles to make my writing what I believe is interesting and clear.

My mother was a very strict parent like most Caribbean parents whenever I did my homework my mother would call me and command that I showed her my homework, this was the norm however every time she asked me I felt nervous because every time I gave her anything less than perfect she would take a marker and put a big X on it and sometimes even tear it when she did this it devastated me. There was time I would have to rewrite and essay multiple time cause my hand writing was bad or I misspelled words this motivated me to try my best on every assignment I did so I wouldn’t have to do it over. One time my mother made me rewrite an essay six times I cried and bawled my hand were on fire but that was the first time I’ve ever gotten an a plus on a paper till then this was the most inspirational grade I’ve ever gotten. For years I would have to make sure that every assignment was to my mother’s satisfactory but eventually that stopped my mother was no longer strict with my academics. I lost almost all motivation I scipt school didn’t do homework and was essentially a ghost in class I was empty with no ambitions and often slept in class. This continued for a long time and I eventually got put into a transfer school as a last resort due to my below average credit
