I always knew I was going to spend the four years after school pursuing computer science and engineering. And surprisingly I didn’t choose this career path simply because of my immense passion for computers. I chose it because deep down I knew computers are the means to solving most of the problems the world faces today and shape a better tomorrow. I walked into Manipal Institute of Technology with great aspirations about my future, and these past fifty months have only solidified my resolve. I’ve not only learnt computer science here at MIT, I’ve learn about life, and how to apply my knowledge to better the lives of the people around me, and those all over the world. It is said that computer technology is reaching its limits and the curve of technological growth will begin to flatten soon. I however believe this is the best time to enter the computer industry, since advancements in computing nowadays focus mainly on ameliorating the lives of the world’s population as a whole. Which is precisely what I want to dedicate my career to.

After my first year of undergraduate studies, I went on a community development internship to Romania, and clichéd though it may be, that trip made me realize I want to dedicate my life to working for society and humanity. Those six weeks were among the best of my life, simply because I was doing something I love. Computer Science in its most basic and purest form is about solving problems, and I believe today’s real world problems can be solved by the technology of tomorrow. As a fresh entrant to the computing industry, it falls upon me, and my peers, to bring that tomorrow
