I am requesting a pre major extension as I await to hear back from the Computer Science and Engineering school. There are a lot of reasons why I desire this major, primarily it is a (relatively) newly discovered passion of mine. I have grown up with computers and have always worked on them, for most of my life I spent time working with hardware rather than software, and after taking a class in 5th grade I never really figured it would be something I liked. While originally attempting to acquire a Physics major when I entered college I was required to take two CSE courses. I loved them both, and very quickly found myself up most nights creating and coming up with handly little programs. As my courses continued I had received word from my professors …show more content…
I get to have discuss ideas and theories as well as practical applications and alternative ways to complete a system. The CSE advisors have noted upon my mathematics and physics grades, and expressed concern but from experience, with the people who are actually in the field, with the people who are actually doing the work, I know that I not only would be a good fit but would excell at the program. My professors wouldn’t have asked me to help with their classes if I wasn’t extremely competent. My coworkers wouldn’t ask for programs and solutions for integrated systems if I wasn’t proficient. To further that, I think that UW’s initial investment into me as a student seeking CSE wouldn’t have gone through if I wasn’t supposed to do this. Every shot in my life has been a long one, I have had to constantly fight uphill battles, and I have faced rejection many, many times but, that is no reason not to try again. Computer Science is what I want to do with my life, I want to help develop structured artificial intelligence, to develop technologies and systems that can save lives. I don’t know where I will end up, but I want to devote my time, my life to research and development of new technologies no matter the
