A year ago I made the conscious decision to enroll in Arcadia University’s Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and to this day I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Instead of following the clear cut path of attending college right after high school, I decided it would be better to wait and attend a much more affordable Community College in the meantime. This proved beneficial in the long run for when it came time to transfer to a 4 year institution, I felt much more at ease with the concept of paying for college as well as keeping up with my studies. Arcadia University drew me in with its lush campus as well as it’s commitment to providing a much more global perspective to it’s students both inside the classroom and out.

Originally I had gone for a web development certification at my community college, after taking a few courses in programming I fell in love with the concept of app development. In applying to Arcadia, it was my hope to be able to further my education by earning a bachelors in Computer Science, a field traditionally underrepresented by women. Being part of the University and college setting has really instilled a sense of both gratitude and commitment within me. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into the Honors Program, which specifically fosters courses mean’t to provide a sense of ethics, leadership and community amongst other members. I was lucky enough to have participated in one of Arcadia’s preview courses and traveled out of the country for the very first time to the faraway land of China.
