From the day I first played trombone, I knew it's impact on my life would be substantial. The joy that I felt while playing could not be achieved through anything else. Since the feeling I acquire while playing is unmatchable, I know that a higher education in music performance is necessary to fulfill my life's purpose. For the past two years, I have tried to gain as close to a professional education as possible. I began attending a residential high school for the arts as a junior. Coming from a school where arts were disregarded, attending my new school was special to me, and has changed my life in a multitude of ways. I spent the following summer attending Boston University's Tanglewood Institute's Trombone Workshop. There, I met musicians who bonded over the desire for success, which motivated me to intensify my musical abilities.

Being surrounded by a phenomenal orchestra like the BSO would allow me to constantly witness what I desire in my future. Aside from the orchestra, there are multitudes of artists in Boston. Placing myself in such a diverse and artistic city would change my life. Another aspect of NEC that would be beneficial is the close-knit learning environment. Having a small number of students gives each individual a greater number of learning opportunities, which is necessary to get the most out of a higher-level education. While there are many benefits to attending NEC, the most personal reason is because of the faculty. After meeting two trombone faculty members, I realized how drastically their methods can help me improve. Faculty like those at NEC can hardly be found
