I specifically seek the University of Chicago’s dynamic range of opportunities which allows me to sate my intellectual curiosity about human interaction in the modern world while simultaneously expressing my passion for music and the youth community. The quarter system along with the extensive gamut of courses that align with my interests, such as Music in Western Civilization and Psychology and Neurobiology of Stress, give me the necessary freedom and responsibility to design an individualized curriculum that best explores my study of psychology within the flexible Core system. I love languages because not only is fluent communication essential, but also studying them naturally familiarizes me to fascinating cultures. I hope to refine my Spanish through the University of Chicago’s quarter-length study abroad program at Toledo.
Because the Department of Psychology’s Research Participation Program exposes me to studies by professors accomplished in their field, I can draw upon my experiences for future personal independent research.

I doubly enjoy teaching youth because the cognitive processes that drive active learning fascinate me and I can directly scrutinize them by enriching the younger generation’s pursuits through outreach. I long to continue promoting education as a teaching assistant with the Neighborhood Schools Program and as a volunteer alongside peers in the Service Match Program at the Ryan Banks Academy. Additionally, a creative outlet for music is a necessity as a lifelong cellist and guitarist eager to delve into new musical genres. With the Major Music Organization, I have a creative vehicle to perform regularly. I can even incorporate my passion for teaching youth and music through the Woodlawn Free School for Music, where I can share my music capabilities with South Side
