It was 5 a.m. I woke up to my dad screaming at the television set. The Dow Jones just dropped 777.68 points. This was the defining moment in my family’s financial stability, which lead me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Finance. The more I learned about finance, the more I realized it wasn’t the right thing for me. After all, the failure in the stock market drove my family apart. But growing up during the Third Industrial Revolution, and experiencing the hardship of financial volatility, taught me the importance of technology. Through the advancement of communication technology, for the first time in history, the world is truly becoming one. These advancements are bringing families together and connecting relationships that were previously lost. Web 3.0 has given me the power to connect with my family through applications such as Skype. Perhaps overcoming a sense of isolation is one of the greatest features in the collection, organization, preservation, and dissemination of data. My successful completion in this course inspired me to pursue a second undergraduate degree in Management of Information Systems (MIS) at Shidler College of Business.
When I began my undergraduate degree I was drawn to the process of researching and finding information.
