Everytime you unlock your cell phone to speak with a family member living in a different state you are using technology to assist your communication. The hardest part about keeping family members up to date about your life is finding strong internet connection, and that is not even hard. Today you can easily upload a selfie at the zoo onto Snapchat in order to inform your friends of your fun trip.
But before the invention of social media, such as Snapchat, Instagram, or Facebook keeping friends and family members up to date about your life was much more difficult before the invention of social media. Once you had to make a phone call or send a letter or postcard. And before the invention of the car your trip may not have been possible, because the trip was simply too far.
Automobiles, telephones, and social media platforms may have all been invented a good time apart and to perform different tasks. But they were all invented with the same intention; to make the world a bit smaller for the user.
