Looking back on to these past four years, I am confident that my high school experience has set a strong foundation that will allow me to succeed in the future. I am grateful for the experiences I have gained through my involvement in various activities. My teachers, coaches, mentors, classmates, and teammates are all people who have given me the skills imperative to becoming a leader. By applying what I have learned from my involvement in high school, I am well prepared to continue my education in college.
Since my freshman year, I have been playing on the Varsity Field Hockey team. As I have been working on playing at my best, I have also been progressing from a player to a leader. This year, I was chosen to take on the role of team captain. Being a captain is one of the greatest honors an athlete can receive, and I acknowledge the significance of that and the responsibility that it entails. As a captain, I push myself to a higher standard to set an example for my team. I take the passion I have for the sport and transfer it to my team, encouraging us to always strive for more. I have been dancing with the McCoy School of Irish Dance for five years. I have danced in the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade, local parades and performances, and I have also danced competitively at Irish festivals. In the past two years, I have also been volunteering by helping the beginning dancers and teaching them during dance classes. I like teaching the beginners because it is rewarding to watch them progress and improve as dancers. Also outside of school, I have been working at a local ice cream shop since I turned 15. Working while attending school has taught me time management. I have managed my schedule, all the while remaining disciplined with my school
