What excites me about the future of solar? I am excited for people in underdeveloped countries to experience things that we first world people unknowingly take for granted. Living in the greatest country in the world, we don’t always see the struggle of third world countries trying to keep their people alive. It’s not that we are selfish, or simply don’t care, many of us just don’t understand. When I was a freshman in high school, I was given the opportunity to go to Jamaica on a mission trip. Not only is it hard to come by, but it’s too expensive for the average Jamaican to afford. When I look at Jamaica I see people that would benefit from solar power throughout the country. When I look at poor countries in Africa and Asia, I see people that would benefit from solar power. When I look at the world, I see everyone benefiting from solar power. Although solar panels can be very expensive, it would be a huge investment to our future. Not only are we using an amazing resource for power, but we aren’t harming anything by using it. The sun is the most amazing resource we have, and we are at a period where the impossible is possible and we can really change things for the better. Solar power is starting to become more and more popular in developed countries and I truly think that in time, we will start to provide solar powered projects in third world countries. Not only can we help those in other countries, but we are helping our world. Today’s people are so developed and so smart but we tend to do things to our planet that hurts it.
