Everyone has asked themselves; who am I? I am Arturo Contreras, a sophomore at Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, in the small-friendly town of Ridge Spring. I am originally from California, where I was born and raised till I was five-years-old. People at my school know me as, “That real smart dude,” but I believe that there is no such thing as smart or dumb, only mature and immature. I personally want to be recognized more and not just my maturity and intelligence. At first when someone meets me, I hardly speak or start a conversation. But in all honesty, I have been trying to get out my comfort zone and start the conversation. Many people are afraid to change, but change is a part of life. Not only are people afraid of change, people are also afraid of describing who they are. Preferably I liked to describe myself by comparing myself to other objects: a special place, a meaningful song, an animal, a color, a specific food, and another person. I rarely eat apples, but if I were a food it would be an apple. Apples have a tendency to be rough on outside but have a soft inside. Just like an apple it is hard to know me at first, but once someone gets to know me I am the friendliest person. Although have the physics they also have a taste, either bitter or sweet. I can be literally anyone of those taste. Some days I have a bad attitude, which is uncommon, and become a “rotten apple.” But on a daily basis I am kind and friendly. Though apples are sweet, there is no other sweeter person than Alexis Gray. Alexis Gray is a determined person to persevere any challenges. Alexis is my best friend, and has demonstrated what true friendship is. If I could be any other person it would be Alexis. Explaining how a food has identify how people can know me and being that other person has taught me to understand others and learn from their
