I’ve literally sat behind this desktop staring at the computer’s blinking cursor for two hours trying to manufacture the perfect essay; trying to gather the best essence of who I am. And believe me when I say, I’ve exhausted all options. I thought about recounting the first time I convinced my single mother that purchasing a $40 dollar doll was a good idea, and even about how I succeeded at re-branding the student government association at my undergraduate institution, Rust College, as the first female president in nearly two decades. I am a skilled networker, critical thinker, and an extremely hard worker. I am passionate about whatever it is that I put my mind to and always searching for the next creative idea for my projects. I eat corrective criticism for breakfast and hungrily consume anything that is beneficial to refining my skills. I’m relentless! I promise you, if you told me to sell a rock; I’d get the job done. Unlike most students, who woke up one morning and miraculously knew advertising and marketing was for them, I discovered that I possessed a unique set of qualities that made me suitable for the career field. Whether it was writing the script for commercials, designing a print advertisement, conducting and creating surveys, or coming up with innovative ways to communicate and spread a message, I always found myself marketing, promoting, and crafting ideas for different organizations. I was the go-to girl! I just naturally fit the bill; because I understood that the most important piece of the puzzle was connecting with consumers on their platform, in their voice.
