For this project a metric would be used to predict who was going to win the 2017 March Madness Tournament. The metric consists of a team’s RPI and two stats that have a strong correlation coefficient to how the teams finished in the 2016 tournament. The Rating Percentage Index (RPI)is a ranking system that is used to determine a team 's rank in the tournament and during the regular season. The two stats had to have a moderate correlation to how the last 16 teams in the 2016 tournament finished. Also a scatter plot was used to display two different stats and how they correlated.
Should College Football Replace the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) with a Playoff System? Many football fans including me argue that a playoff system should replace the BCS. They contend that it is the only fair way to determine a national champion and that the BCS method is subjective, profit-motivated, and sometimes leaves the best teams out of the championship game. They should change this because it doesnt make sence to have college football teams go against each other in a national championship while eight other top teams play in four bowl games.they should have playoff games like in the NFl instead of having a lot of Bowl games. This was formed in 1998 I strongly disagree with the playoff system they use in college its just not fair to others because It 's not fair because the sec, acc, big 12, PAC 12, and big 10 automatically have the playoff spots with one champion being left out.
By forcing athletes to go to college doesn 't mean they are going to get an education. If the athletes aren 't made to graduate what 's the point in making them go for a few years. Only reason they are forced is to make the college money, So basically the athletes are being used for money. To prove that why do you think other sports don 't have this rule? Because they aren 't wanted or make as much money or basketball or football.
The influence of one person passed on to another is inevitable when it comes to life, but even more unavoidable when it extends to sports. College sports in fact have an impact on a mass majority of people, from spectators to players, these endeavors create hopes and dreams for any individual. Not only that, any heart strung story coming from sports gets plastered on media outlets so a greater population of people can also be influenced by a game, but I want to go further than that. Personally, I believe there is a greater meaning behind sports than for it just to be a pastime. There is a reason that the superior divisions of athletics are harder to reach than decades before because of the higher levels of knowledge that continue to be passed down from great coaches to greater players in a never ending cycle.
College Athlete Compensation Why are we letting college athletes go hungry? Did you know college athletes put about 40 hours a week into their sports and they never really get paid (college athletes deserve). Even though they make millions of dollars a year for their universities they don't get a dime (hoop dream). College athletes should get compensated because their scholarships don't fully cover their student needs. The NCAA refutes most of these arguments by saying their student athletes, but with the work they put in shouldn't students go first (hoop dream).UConn the winner of the NCAA championship last year had a graduation rate of just 8% for their male athletes.
Between the amounts of money the NCAA makes off of them; the fact that if they get injured they are left with nothing; the reality that these student athletes treat their sports as a job, putting in the same work, but do not get paid and cannot get a job, they should be
The fight for payment of college athletes has not been quick one as more and more issues keep popping up. The NCAA has never allowed payment of its athletes, but small steps towards the overall goal has questioned the NCAA’s past. Its’ decisions has stayed constant since its founding in 1906. The first issue in this decision would not occur until 1952 when the NCAA ruled to give The University of Kentucky the ‘death penalty’ for paying their athletes. This ‘death penalty’ is a one year program ban from participation, the harshest penalty the NCAA can give.
My first topic on why college athletes should be paid is, if not pay all the players, pay the football and
Statistically showing, at least 100,000 college football players get hurt yearly. College football player’s should get paid to play because these players put themselves at risk for injury, college football is a job, not p.e, and it will help players adjust to college socially and economically. Colleges and the NCAA can make money selling jerseys and other souvenirs that might include the likeness of players, yet the actual players never receive a cent. Every time a football player steps onto the field, they’re risking themselves for injury.
Already, the system of college athletics is corrupt. People see that all this money is being made and the college athletes are completely getting
If American Football is an art, then its athletes paint with blood. This should surprise no one; the gridiron plays host to modernity’s most violent sport. In this unforgiving environment, it is all to common for former stars to flare out with career-ending injuries. As I kicked off my research on the National Football League (NFL), I intended to report on these injuries. With a premise on my mind and a paper in my sights, I headed to JumboSearch to begin my investigation.
The current system is biased to “Power 5” teams. With the current playoff system only including four teams so many great teams aren’t given a chance to participate in the playoffs. There are some amazing teams in college football but since the current playoff system is so exclusive to non power 5 teams don’t even have a shot to compete Laisle 3 for a national championship. Expanding the playoff system to 12 or 16 teams would fix this problem immediately.
The sport I chose to observe was college football. I decided to chose this sport because football is a sport my family enjoys to watch. Also I enjoy watching football more than any other sport because there is so much that could happen, in football many unexpecting plays could happen, and each game is different than the last one. The game I chose to watch was a college football game between the University of Notre Dame and the University of Miami that took place at the University of Miami on Saturday, November 11, 2017. The game started with Miami kicking the ball to Notre Dame.
The first reason is because People would stop watching or attending the college games. Second the kids are already getting a free college education, place to stay, meals, and there book fees paid for. Finally this would cost to much money for the NCAA to pay for all the players in the NCAA. The first
This would be not fair to hard-working students who cannot afford college and rely on scholarships and aid. Unfortunately, athletes focus more on performance than on academics, and scholarship money may go to
