College Tennis Personal Statement

They say that tennis is one of the most mentally challenging sports. I was fortunate enough to play college tennis in the Unites States and compete at the highest intercollegiate levels. My desire to play this game started at the age of seven. Sixteen years later I am playing tennis all over the US while experiencing some of the best moments that ever happened in my life. A desire to reach my highest potential guided me towards mental aspects of this game. Physical aspects reached expectations to compete at this level, but it just wasn't enough.

My dream came true and I became a student-athlete and part of the intercollegiate tennis world. Majoring in psychology with an emphasis on sport finally allowed me to understand different theories, techniques, methods, and therapies used in different sports and environments. I was able to use and test all the positive aspects of my studies which helped me gain an edge when competing. My passion for this field became even bigger when I stepped into the research field. Besides this, I learned some social, economical, and practical aspects about sports, exercise, and human movement. This knowledge can easily be practiced in my future education or coaching profession. Being able to assist some common injuries or to know what part of the body has been injured by certain movement is valuable in this profession. In my opinion, all the athletes and people involved in sports should be required to take general kinesiology classes before anyhting. How our body functions and how do we do everything we do is really the core of any sport or exercise. Therefore this knowledge stands for something very important in any careers related to
