In The United States of America, people are fortunate enough to have the right to speak their minds to produce deep, extensive, and meaningful conversations. These public expressions, whether in groups of people, one-on-one conversations, or on social media, can allow people to expand their political, economic, and social views of the world. Social media platforms and public speaking supplies the opportunity for people to communicate and articulate their views freely. Colleges should not be allowed to expel students for articulating their opinions on social media as the ability to generate free speech is a First Amendment right, can allow students to express themselves and their ideas, and uncensored opinions advance the ideals of The United States. People look at The United States as a land of opportunity; a land where people will not be severely harmed for expressing what they feel. The United States was founded by free thinkers, such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. Without these men and their nonconformist ways, The United States would not be what it is today. These men implemented principles such as Freedom of Speech and the Freedom of Religion, as they were fearful of being dictated like before in England. Without their risk to start something new for an entire country and to put out their opinions, The United States would not be the same. The freedom standards that America was built on became the everlasting foundation of The United States. Therefore, college students should be permitted to be free thinkers and do great things just as the Founding Fathers did.
