Life is full of wonder and beauty yet, life is also mysterious and unpredictable as well. With that said, it is best to prepare for the life ahead no matter how long and wild it could be. Insurance companies were created for this reason; preparing for the unexpected. Whether there is a hurricane, earthquake, or fire, there are insurance companies out there that allow people to buy coverage for the unpredictable future. Jackson National Life is such an insurance company that was founded on the principles of helping its customers prepare for the future ahead.

By placing heavy weight instead on middle school grades, state assessment results, and attendance, Townsend Harris feels it ends up with students who have demonstrated the capacity to be serious and successful, not just good test takers. All students are required to be in the 90th percentile or above on math and reading standardized tests as well as have a minimum grade point average of 90 in June of 7th grade when being considered for a 9th grade seat. There is no entrance exam, written assessment or formal interview, and while nearly 5000 students apply to THHS each year, 250 seats are available. Students must place THHS as their first choice of high schools, showing ambition and dedication to becoming an “aggressive”
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide an overview to the Board of Education regarding the pros and cons of establishing the first charter school (commonly referred to as “school choice”) in our school district. Its proponents argue parents should have the right to use tax dollars for charters to achieve higher standards and better student outcomes. First, “What is a charter school?” Charter schools “charters” are independent public schools established under charter granted by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (“BOE”). And, secondly, “How are character school operated”?

I feel ASD’s mission and values are apt for students of today’s world. Teachers should help children learn to their best of their ability but also be flexible as no one knows what the future holds (Excellence). There is so much happening every moment. In today’s world, where a child’s innocence is so easily corrupted, I hope students can grow to become flowers among weeds, to use their own judgment and sense of self to know right from wrong and to do what is best for their future (Integrity & Respect). They should grow up having a feeling of worthiness and belongingness as an independent individual (Compassion).
