Collins Elementary is a branch of Alief Independent School District. I have been to many Alief schools and observed a very common pattern in all the schools in the district. They fallow the same requirements and have the same curriculum. I did notice that Collins elementary have a few assests that are unique to this school.
Linda Brown, a black child, lived only seven blocks from an all-white elementary school and when her father tried to enroll her he was turned away, so he went to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People who agreed to help. The United States Supreme Court reached a unanimous 9-0 decision stating that “separate but equal facilities are inherently unequal and violate the protections of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment”. In task 2, the NAACP has really navigated policy and advocating systems especially when looking at their legal victories in the courts. “Some court cases that NAACP won included: Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896, Brown v. Board of Education in 1954, Voting Rights Act of 1965, and Fair Housing Act of 1968” (NAACP, 2015b). The NAACP saw a need for social justice and used their power for change on the federal, state, and local level. “Task 3 is the agenda-setting task, practitioners gauge whether the context is favorable for a policy initiative, and they evolve early strategy to place it on policy makers’ agendas” (Jansson, B. With all these ridiculous infractions the final straw was pushed for teachers, the situation was intolerable and thought life would not get any better without creating a union. The American Federation of the Teachers founded in 1916, was created for the struggles of the teacher for control of their lives and money. Margaret Haley who led the Chicago Federation of Teachers, set an example across the nation, she organized a platform calling for corporations to pay a fair share of taxes to support them. Teachers feeling like servants to society, forged the slogan “Education for Democracy”. The slogan was used to illustrate the

That teacher prefers to not integrate his or her school. Looking at this article through a counselor lens, I believe it is our duties to advocate for all students no matter their SES or ethnic background. There is clearly more work in advocating for students in working class school, but there are students that still needs our help in the upper class school.
While the Minnesotan legal system has done its best to ensure that all Nuer children have equal rights to education, some of the academic choices made can hurt a child’s progress. Christian communities in Minnesota have continuously supported the Nuer, but the Minnesotan public school system sometimes fails to accommodate Nuer children and prioritises the needs of white children over theirs; seeing as Nuer children have never had formal American education before, they do not need to be placed into the grade that corresponds to their age in the United States, but rather the appropriate grade for their learning level. In the end, it comes down to careful communication between the Nuer and the Minnesotans; while there has been much of it, the system is nowhere near
I am extremely honored to be eligible for this opportunity to apply for the National Honor Society. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society has been a goal I set for myself since I was a student in middle school. I have been greatly looking forward to this moment for a very long time. Overall, I have worked incredibly hard these last two years to display a positive character and obtain qualities such as leadership, responsibility, and scholarship. I strongly believe I will be a productive and reliable member of the National Honor Society at Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School.

As Americans, we view the Constitution as a stepping stone to making the great country we live in today. Yet, we the people of the United States failed to realize another component in order to form a perfect union. Which is to establish and promote equal opportunities for a quality education for all. Education is vital to one’s life and well-being, however since education isn’t free so many kids around the world can’t take advantage of it simply because of their economic status. When people become educated, it allows them to develop different perspectives and would not only see an improvement in their life, but in society as a whole. There’s no doubt that education is the most important thing to enhance the lives of individuals. Without it, kids aren’t able to reach their full potential, causing citizens to experience major issues in life such as a low standard of living, ignorance, and among other things. Education should be free for everyone, regardless of their economic background, because every individual is important and should have the equal opportunity to better themselves.
