Waiting for orders on an early morning on August 6th , 1945 , Lt. Colonel Paul Tibbets and his crew were embarking on the most important mission of their lives that would change the course of history forever. The decision of Lt. Colonel Paul Tibbets to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima was life changing that encompassed the leadership traits of assessing the effects of every situation being both rational and emotional, but maintained his composure within the interactional framework. Lt. Colonel Tibbets had this dilemma where the president believed that this was simply a military decision, but for Lt. Colonel Tibbets the decision to drop the bomb was to save the lives emotionally for his subordinates. If Lt. Colonel Tibbets did not drop the bomb, that meant more military personnel would invade Japan and ultimately cause the death of more casualties. The death of more casualties would cause great grief on his crew knowing if the military personnel that died in Japan could be a family member, neighbor , or friend that belonged to his crew. His decision as a leader probe and push with a curiosity that borders skepticism, making sure his crew’s questions are answered with action. As a leader Lt. Colonel Tibbetts exemplified the moral example that became the model for his crew, by each one having no regrets on the bombing. As the leader of the situation Lt. Colonel Tibbets gave fifth to his crew that the mission was going to be a success, when Lt. Colonel Tibbets named his plane after his mother Enola Gay7. The eleven crew member force did not exactly know what bomb they were dropping that morning, but they showed trust in every single way they could to be loyal as followers by following the orders of Lt. Colonel Tibbetts. Lt. Colonel Tibbets said "My order to the crew was to stay off the intercom,"8 Once the bomb was dropped the, the crew realized what thy have done when they saw the effects. One of the crew members said, "And fires, I could see fires spring up through this undercast, or whatever you would call it, that was covering the city. Flames in different spots would be springing up. It was about that time that Tibbets turned the airplane around, so that everybody could get a look at it."9 Through this quote, Lt.Colonel Tibbets did this in order to show that the destruction they have done would be for the better good, this held true when one of the crew members respected the Colonel’s judgement to do the right thing as the leader by saying, "I'm convinced that the bombing saved many lives by ending the war,"10 When the crew saw what destruction the bomb caused and yet will engender the trust through the four qualities
