Dark girls is a documentary that was filmed by the directors Bill Duke and D. Channsin Berry. Both director has done an amazing job with this documentary. As I watched this film, I found it to be both heart-breaking and very powerful. This documentary is part of a movement because it's main topic in this film is on colorism, which is known as discrimination that is based on the color of someone's skin.
I feel like the directors aim in this film was everyone around the world. I say this because colorism is happening in all parts of the world, in different countries, different cultures. It's not just happening in the black community.

Today the black community are still going up against each other with the light-skinned versus dark-skinned. As a young light skinned woman growing up a lot of dark skinned girls didn’t like me because they assumed that I thought I was better than them because my skin is lighter. There were black men in the community that were asked what their preference was when it comes to the color of a woman's skin. Some preferred light skin and some preferred dark skin. The one thing that I can say that I didn't like was when the men were asked these questions and they would put down the other skin color just because that’s not what they preferred. A second fact is the hair type. There are many people in the black community who do not have the same hair type, so the lighter the skin the better hair type versus the darker the skin the more course the hair would be Fact three is the bleaching of the skin.
