Acquiring software as Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) poses tremendous benefits to a company as well as some downsides. COTS refer to software programs that are already built and available for sale in the business environment. The major advantage of purchasing software as COTS is that they are simple to execute and interoperate with different existing frameworks without the need for intense re-customization.
Performance and workload measurement issues that the company should consider at the present.
Response time; is the time elapsed between a request on a system and the reaction to that request. With the company adding six new locations, the response time of the system may be slower thus negatively impacting the system performance.

A system which keeps on failing would have a negative impact on service delivery (Astrom and Wittenmark, 2013). The company needs to be sure that additional locations will not result in a constant failure of the existing system.
Scalability; is the ability of the system to support increased workload and growing number of users mostly by additional of resources such as hardware. The company needs to make sure that the system is scalable since additional locations mean an increased amount of work and users.
Capacity planning issues the company should consider at the present time.
Industry regulations; regulations vary from one location to another and since the company wants to expand the business to six different locations, it is necessary to be acquainted with the laws applying in those areas. Worker training; additional locations of the business will require new employees. These workers need to be trained on how to use the existing system. Additional computer hardware; to support the scalability of the system with the increased workload and users, additional hardware such as CPUs will be required.
